About the Papakura Business Association (PBA)

The Papakura Business Association (PBA) is an organisation dedicated to making Papakura a prosperous, evolving, metropolitan centre where people come to live, invest, shop, and do business.

As a Business Improvement District (BID), we are actively involved in the development, support, and promotion of businesses within the Papakura town centre. We are a non-political Incorporated Society governed by a voluntary executive committee of local business and property owners.

Our core mission is to foster a clean, safe, and secure environment and collaborate with our members and partners to strengthen the local economy.

Our Strategic Focus

Our work is guided by our 5-Year Strategic Plan (2025–2030), which is built on four key pillars:

  • Prosper: We actively promote and showcase local businesses and business opportunities. This includes destination marketing, shopper events, and delivering training programmes to help our businesses succeed.
  • Connect: We believe a connected community is the heart of a thriving town centre. We foster connections through networking events like our “Coffee on Us” mornings, celebrate Papakura’s unique cultural history, and collaborate with local community organisations.
  • Place: We are committed to making Papakura a safe, attractive, and accessible place we can all be proud of. Key initiatives include managing the Papakura Angels town centre ambassadors, maintaining and expanding the CCTV safety network, and running town centre beautification projects, from seasonal decorations to clean-up events.
  • Performance: We serve as a strong, valuable resource and a respected advocate for local business and enterprise. We champion the needs of Papakura’s businesses and provide opportunities for education and support.

Key Partnerships

Collaboration is fundamental to our success. We work closely with a range of key partners to deliver for Papakura, including:

  • Papakura Local Board
  • Auckland Council (including the BID team and Auckland Transport)
  • NZ Police
  • Funders and community trusts
  • Our valued local businesses, property owners, and community agencies

Our Official Objectives

As an Incorporated Society, our official objectives are set out in our rules. Our goals are to:

  • Assist and guide the commercial interests of Papakura businesses through coordinated marketing and economic development.
  • Foster and promote the welfare of the business community, providing a forum for networking and collaboration.
  • Promote environmentally and socially responsible business practices.
  • Improve Papakura’s environment to attract and retain business, driving employment and economic growth.
  • Capitalise on Papakura’s unique assets and profile to establish a strong identity for the area.
  • Advocate to local and central government for the improvement of amenity, streetscapes, transport, services, and security.
  • Administer the BID Targeted Rate Grant to achieve these objectives.
